John is a non-executive director of Equity Trust’s New Zealand trust company. John practises as a tax and trust barrister, having specialised in tax and trust law for over 20 years. In addition to providing services to Equity Trust, John provides tax and trust advice to a range of New Zealand and offshore clients.

John was born and educated in New Zealand. He is the chairman of the New Zealand branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is a member of the STEP Council. He is a frequent presenter at conferences in New Zealand and internationally and has authored a number of publications on tax and trust law issues. John also lectures on tax law part-time at Auckland University.
